Our story
Hoyamal was formed in 2017 by John Fawls and Ed French, both having worked for leading global businesses with excellent track records in recruiting key talent in the MENA region.
Their dream was to create a truly amazing place to work for experienced recruitment experts that would subsequently deliver a first-class service for Hoyamal clients.
What does Hoyamal mean?
Inspired by the rich history of our adopted home of the United Arab Emirates, the name “Hoyamal” is taken from the inspirational songs sang by Emirati pearl fisherman – the once premier industry of the Persian Gulf.
Pearl diving was a brutal profession and these Hoyamal songs would give divers inner strength to survive and prosper in savage conditions. The legend of Hoyamal resonates with us as we specialise in finding the best talent for our clients across the region.
